- The drive senses the HD notch (or lack thereof), and based on that
- reading generates a different floppy disc type ID. All Amiga floppies
- except for the 880K at unit 0 have a drive type ID that's returned
- based on an OS inquiry. Since this isn't a standard feature of the
- drives themselves, there's an extra circuit for this. On
- A2000/A3000/A4000 motherboards, this circuit is enabled via a jumper
- (for 880K DF1: only), for external floppies there's usually a small
- circuitboard.

- The HD Chinon drive has this circuitry on board, the Amiga system
- itself has no control over it. On disk change, the DOS device for such
- a drive is reinitialized based on the ID code returned from the
- drive (the OS knows the geometry, the ID code simply lets it select
- the correct one from the short list).
